JOINUS Shopping Center at Yokohama Station

JOINUS is a large shopping center on the west side of Yokohama Station which has four floors above ground and two basement levels. Inside JOINUS shoppers can find around 300 different stores which include fashion boutiques, gift shops, and cosmetic stores. There is also a large dining section with restaurants serving both local and international cuisine.

JOINUS is operated by the private railway company Sotetsu (also called Sagami Railway) and Sotetsu Yokohama Station is located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the JOINUS building. JOINUS is also directly connected with the neighboring Takashimaya department store and shoppers can walk freely between the stores from each floor. In this article we will introduce some of the highlights of the JOINUS shopping center.

On the 1st floor you can find a variety of well-known fashion brands such as Paul Smith, Lacoste and Fred Perry. Charing Cross Hampstead is a ladies fashion store selling classic elegant designs that emphasize simplicity and quality.

The popular cosmetics and perfume store L’Occitane En Provence can also be found on the 1st floor together with stores selling lifestyle and interior goods and a small number of restaurants and cafes.

On the 3rd floor you can find a store selling traditional clothes such as kimono and yukata, a watch store, a hair accessories store, a branch of Shinseido selling CDs and DVDs, and a FrancFranc furniture store. And if you need a rest from shopping, you can take a break at Tully’s Café.

N. Natural Basic Beauty is a ladies fashion store on the 3rd floor which sells smart casual clothes.

Usagi Online Store is another ladies’ fashion boutique selling brands such as Lily Brown, SNIDEL, and Gelato Pique.

WEGO on the 4th floor

The 4th floor mostly has ladies’ fashion boutiques but there are also stores selling furniture, accessories, jewelry and lifestyle goods. WEGO is a casual streetwear store aimed at ladies and men in their teens and early 20s.

Dining

The main dining section of JOINUS is located in the B1 and B2 basement levels. On the B1 level you can find a range of casual restaurants and cafes such as the Hawaiian café and bar RR Rainbow and Steak Joint for grilled beef steaks and burgers.

Cosmetics brands such as Fancl and Mary Quant can also be found in the B1 basement.

More restaurants can be found in the B2 basement level serving Italian, Chinese and Western cuisine as well as typical Japanese restaurants serving noodles, sushi, shabu-shabu, sukiyaki and tempura.

Tax Refunds

Overseas visitors who are in Japan for less than 6 months can claim a tax refund on most purchases. However, tax refunds must be claimed on the same day that you bought the products. If you spend over 5,000 yen on general goods or consumables then you can take your purchased items together with your passport and receipts to the Tax Refund Counter on the B1 basement level of the neighboring Takashimaya department store. This is directly accessible from the B1 level of JOINUS.

JOINUS has free Wi-Fi and multilingual floor guides.

A JP Bank ATM, which accepts most international bank cards, can be found on the 2nd floor.

Location

JOINUS is located between Yokohama Station’s main building and the Takashimaya department store. On leaving Yokohama Station’s West Exit you can see JOINUS on your immediate left. Here is a map showing the shopping center’s location.
